The cause of death of Lamar Odom’s best friend, Jamie Sangouthai, has turned out not to be a heroin overdose like previously reported. However, he did die from drug-related issues.
As we previously reported, Sangouthai died at the age of 37 in what was suspected to be an accidental overdose, but now it’s reported he died from flesh-eating diseases called necrotizing fasciitis and chronic intravenous narcotism.
These diseases are a bacterial skin infection that is directly caused by using dirty needles for drug use.
He was rushed to the hospital on Sunday when his arm became infected but the disease spread too fast and there was nothing doctors could do.
Sangouthai appeared with Odom and Khloe Kardashian on their E! spin-off Khloe & Lamar. A source told Us Weekly the NBA star is “beside himself” over his friend’s death.
"He feels like it could have happened to him," the source said. "This is a huge wake-up call for him. It has really shaken him.”
