Joe Paterno, the former Penn State football coach who got fired in 2011 after the Jerry Sandusky sexual molestation scandal went public, will be honored by a local Pennsylvania brewery.
The Duquesne Brewing Company, which is located in Paterno’s widow Sue Paterno’s hometown of Latrobe, PA, is working with the Paterno family to honor the late coach with his own beer.
Paterno died of lung cancer in 2012, just two months after getting fired. He was the winningest coach in college football history and the only coach to acquire titles in all four of college bowls.
The AP reports the beer will be available this August and a portion of proceeds will go to the Paterno family’s charities of choice.
The 12-ounce cans will feature Paterno’s photo and a list of his accomplishments.
Sandusky was sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison and convicted on 45 counts of sexually abusing 10 young boys over 15 years.
