Grey's Anatomy fans can be expecting a new hunky surgeon to be taking over the scalpel in neurosurgery.
Deadline reported that after widespread rumors about who will be the ABC hit show's newest neurosurgeon, Martin Henderson was cast this week.
The 12 season show had lost it's neurosurgeon, Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd in the April season finale. Shepherd, played by Patrick Dempsey, was the love interest of main character Meredith Grey.
New Zealand native Henderson joins the ABC medical drama after working on Australia's Secrets & Lies, The Ring, and SundanceTV's The Red Road. Henderson has worked with showrunner Shonda Rhimes in the past. The two worked together on network's short-lived drama, Off the Map.
The Ellen Pompeo starring show has been facing many character changes in the past few seasons. The Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital has already been mourning the deaths of Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan and Lexie "Lexipedia" Grey during the show's ninth season and longtime star Sandra Oh, who played Christina Yang, left one season later. Now, the hospital residents and attendings must mourn the death of Shepherd.
As for Dempsey, he is working hard to get back to TV. The Sweet Home Alabama actor has not announced his next career move.
