After seven seasons, NeNe Leakes has announced that she is leaving Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
“This was definitely a hard decision for me,” Leakes told People. “Me and my husband have been going back and forth on it for weeks now. But my contract is up and I just think this is the right time. This is my opportunity to spread my wings and do different things.”
Leakes was often the focus of several fights and heated arguments on Atlanta -- the infamous bus brawl with Kim Zolciak and the screaming match with Kenya Moore during May’s reunion special.
Leakes also told People that she is working on a “new primetime show with a big legend,” but did not state who.
However, TMZ reported that the controversial star is leaving because she wasn’t offered as much money as she wanted to renew her contract.
Bravo released a statement to E! News stating, “We wish NeNe well after seven memorable seasons of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. We will miss her bloop bloop’s and her great one liners. We look forward to the eight season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta in the fall.”
