Nichelle Nichols, who is best known for playing Lt. Nyota Uhura in the original Star Trek TV series and movies, has suffered a mild stroke. Her publicist said that she is currently “resting comfortably.”

The news was first reported by TMZ, which reported that she was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital Wednesday night from her home.

A post on her Facebook page confirmed the news, asking fans to “keep her in your thoughts.” Doctors aren’t sure about the severity of the stroke, as the 82-year-old still has to undergo tests.

“Last night while at her home in LA, Nichelle Nichols suffered from a mild stroke. She is currently undergoing testing to determine how severe the stroke was,” her publicist wrote. “Please keep her in your thoughts.”

Nichols played Uhuru during the three-season run of Star Trek: The Original Series, which celebrates its 50th anniversary next year. She also starred in all six Trek movies with the original crew. She is one of the last surviving main cast members, along with William Shatner, George Takei and Walter Koenig.
