Sir Paul McCartney was born on June 18, 1942, so he celebrates his 73rd birthday. Yes, it’s been nine years since he passed 64.
While McCartney is still best known for his Beatles songs, he has actually been a solo artist far longer than he was a Beatle. That means he’s built an incredible discography, with 24 studio albums countless singles, eight live albums and several compilations. That means there is bound to be some material that casual fans have not heard.
Last year, I put together my first “Top 10 Paul McCartney Songs You Have Never Heard” list, which only scratched the surface. I tried to limit myself by only including album tracks, which still made things incredibly difficult.
This year, I’m going to include some officially unreleased material, B-sides and other songs out there that you might have missed. (In 2012, I ranked his 10 best albums.) The unreleased material comes from bootlegs, which many fans have shared on YouTube and they remain on the video-sharing site for whatever reason. (Maybe McCartney’s people are just too lazy to have Google take them down?)
McCartney is still performing to this day and even released another studio album last year, NEW. So, perhaps for his 74th birthday, I’ll have even more songs to include on this list.
Without any further delay, it’s time to get moving and start counting down 10 more great McCartney songs you haven’t heard before.
