After ten full years of military service, today will be Prince Harry's last day.
This morning, Kensington Palace released a press statement that today, June 19, 2015, will be the royal's last day in the military.
The announcement said, "After more than a decade of full-time military service Prince Harry has today ended his career with the Army."
According to Us Weekly, Prince Harry has gone on two tours of duty in Afghanistan, served as an Apache Aircraft Commander, led the Invictus Games, and worked alongside the Australian Defense Force.
Of Harry's long resume during active duty, General Sir Nicholas Carter, Chief of the General Staff, said that Prince Harry has "achieved much in his ten years as a soldier. He has been at the forefront throughout his service."
Though no longer on active duty, Prince William's little brother plans to still work in uniform. In the fall, Prince Harry plans on working with wounded soldiers. This is a part of his volunteer work with the Personal Recovery Unit of London District.
With his schedule freed up, Harry has stated he now hopes to focus his time on wildlife conservation efforts.
To help, Prince Harry will be spending July, August, and September in Botswana, South Africa, Tanzania, and Namibia working with the animals, wildlife rangers, community members to better their environment.
