ABC has announced that Raven-Symone will be the newest co-host of the channel's popular talk show The View.
The That's So Raven star has been subbing in as a guest panelist on the show for months. However, on Wed., June 10, ABC announced that the star had a permanent seat on the show as a co-host. The former Disney channel star, 29, will host along with Whoopi Goldberg, Nicolle Wallace, and Rosie Perez.
"The Disney Company has made another one of my dreams come true! Being a part of The View family will be a wonderful growing experience for me," Symone said in a statement released after the announcement. "The cast and crew are warm and welcoming and have made the transition into daytime talk easier. I have a lot to learn within this new arena, but being the apprentice of these spectacular women will only make me a better person and talk show host."
US Weekly reported early in the year that the star was in talks for landing a permanent position on the show. According to the popular magazine and a TV insider, Symone studies current events and hot topics to be prepared for the show.
Creator and executive producer, Barbara Walters said, "Raven-Symone is a welcome addition to The View." Walters continued in her statement by saying that Symone, "is happy, amusing and well-informed, and has already brought a unique perspective to the program that has resonated with our audience."
Symone is the most recent change to the show's anchor desk.
