TV host and actress Rosie Perez revealed Monday that she had a same-sex fling when she was a teenager.
Perez made the admission while speaking at the TrevorLive event hosted by LGBTQ youth organization the Trevor Project in New York City.
“Every human being, whether they want to admit it or not, went through a period of questioning. I know I did,” she said.
Fox News Latino noted that the outspoken actress got candid with the audience and talked about her sexual feelings for a girl named Michelle who she met in junior high school.
“I suppressed the urge and suppressed the urge and suppressed the urge until Michelle one day started humping on me,” Perez said.
The 50-year-old co-host of The View added that even though she realizes she is not a lesbian she still went through that period in her life and unlike the resources and community available today, did not have anyone to turn to.
Perez has been married to artist Eric Haze since 2003.
