The 5th Annual Critics Choice TV Awards were held on Sunday night and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane won an award known as the Louis XIII Genius Award. While giving his acceptance speech, MacFarlane had a few choice words regarding the Duck Dynasty family as he made jokes that also hit the A&E network.

Deadline reported that MacFarlane also put A&E on the spotlight. The network, home to Duck Dynasty aired the awards show and MacFarlane joked that “I’m being declared a genius on the network that airs Duck Dynasty.”

The family on the show have been outspoken on their criticism of gay marriage, which MacFarlane alluded to when he said they believed that gay marriage led to hurricanes..

While the audience was thrilled with the joke, the network apparently was not pleased since when they uploaded his acceptance speech, they cut the video off before the joke was heard.

Variety reported that he also took jibes at himself, alluding to the Fox network taking “a chance” on The Simpsons before talking about creating his own show, Family Guy.

Charlize Theron, who starred with MacFarlane in A Million Ways to Die in the West, took a jab at him as she presented him saying, the work they did together was “a $40 million excuse to make out with me.”

On the same night of his award win, the docu series he helped to produce, Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey won the prestigious Peabody Award in New York.
