Shaquille O’Neal might have revealed that he’s 9/11 conspiracy theorist... or he might just have a social media expert go rogue on him. He’s since had to apologized for Facebook and blog posts of a 9/11 conspiracy theory story.
The posts linked to a site that urged people to watch a “close up video” of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City. On Facebook, a caption read, “This might make you think twice... what do you think? #NeverForget #Remember911.” Deadspin also posted screenshots of the text of the full article posted on his Shaq Blog.
Eventually, the two posts were deleted. Shaq later sent a statement Friday to Gossip Cop, insisting that he fired a social media firm that posted it. He also said that he is “not and never have been a ‘9/11 truther.’”
Here’s what his full statement reads:
“This post was insulting and offensive, and I apologize to everyone who came across it. Once I learned that it was on my Facebook page and blog, I ordered it removed and fired the firm that posted it. I am not and never have been a ‘9/11 truther.’ My father served our country and I am immensely proud of the sacrifices people make daily to keep us safe. The events of 9/11 were a horrible tragedy for our nation and it’s a disgrace that anyone would think otherwise.”
Looks like Shaq just tripped on social media.
