Who knew Taye Diggs looked so good in glitter?
The first official photo of the actor in his Hedwig makeup was released as he prepares for his 12-week run as the lead in the revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
Diggs shared his new look with his fans via Twitter on Wednesday and the star is almost unrecognizable! He can be seen looking glamorous in his glittery blue eyes shadow paired with an equally glittery red lipstick.
“Hedwig is the role of a lifetime. I’m looking forward to being challenged performance-wise on many levels, as well as being humbled by the musical’s social implications,” Diggs told People Magazine.
He also revealed his favorite part of getting glammed up for the iconic role. “I like wearing nail polish,” he admitted.
This marks the first time an African American actor will play the title character in the classic Broadway musical. It is also Diggs’s first time on Broadway since his last appearance in Wicked in 2004.
It looks like Diggs has some big high heels and fishnets to fill. The role of Hedwig was previously played by stars Neil Patrick Harris, Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall, John Cameron Mitchell and Glee’s Darren Criss.
Diggs will make his big debut on July 22.
