It may sound a bit creepy that reality star Farrah Abraham is putting her DNA on the market, but it’s actually for a good cause.
TMZ reported that the Teen Mom OG cast member teamed up with Celebrity Gene, to sell vials of her DNA for $99 and 50 percent of the proceeds will go to Operation Underground Railroad. The charity’s mission is to help and rescue victims of childhood slavery.
Abraham had a nice payday for this business venture and was reportedly paid $30,000 in advance for her sample and will receive a 10 percent cut of the future sales.
Celebrity Gene’s website states that the company uses mitochondrial DNA of a celeb and places it in jewelry pieces sold to provide funding and awareness for the star’s charitable cause as well as genetic diseases.
The site also has a private collection of DNA signatures that can can be viewed but are not for sale they include those of Princess Diana, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Justin Bieber.
