Even though Stephen Colbert doesn’t return to television until September, CBS is getting the Internet prepared with the first promotional video for the new Late Show.
In the sketch, Colbert says goodbye to the beard he grew after Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report ended last fall, which became known as the “Colbeard” on the web. He has to get rid of it because of Tom Selleck’s mustache’s non-compete clause. Later, he also remembers what it was like to have a beard, with “Camptown Races” sung to the tune of Green Day’s “Good Riddance.”
CBS also set up the show’s official Twitter page.
Colbert must have gotten rid of the beard a few weeks ago though, since he was clean-shaven at CBS’ upfront presentation for advertisers early last month. There, the host got to introduce himself to CBS advertisers with another sketch about his journey to find himself.
Check out the video below. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (it still feels weird to type that) is set to debut on Sept. 8.
