Gary Sinise will have another team member to help him solve crimes abroad. Alana De La Garza has joined the Criminal Minds spinoff Beyond Borders.
De La Garza, who recently starred in ABC’s now-cancelled Forever, joined the show on Friday, reports The Hollywood Reporter. She will play Carla Seger, a field agent who knows several languages and had been on a two-year break from the International Response Team. She’s back to join the FBI team, which helps solve crimes involving American citizens overseas.
Aside from Sinise, the mid-season series will also star Daniel Henney and Tyler James Williams. Deadline reports that Annie Funke (The Affair, The Intern) also joined the show.
Although Breaking Bad’s Anna Gunn appeared in the spin-off’s backdoor pilot episode during the latest season of Criminal Minds, she has left the project.
De La Garza is best known for her tenure on Law & Order and was in the short-lived Law & Order: Los Angeles spinoff. She also has a recurring role on CBS’ Scorpion, which starts its second season in the fall.
