Considering the countless plots going on in Game of Thrones, it’s easy to forget that there is a third member of the Stark family who was nowhere to be seen in season five. Bran Stark, the youngest remaining Stark sibling and played by Isaac Hempstead Wright, sat out the whole season, but is coming back.
In an interview with the Irish Examiner over the weekend, Wright revealed that he will be back.
“I can’t say a lot but I am back this season, and it’s going to get particularly interesting with Bran. He has some interesting visions,” Wright, 16, said.
Even though Wright wasn’t involved, did he still keep up with the show? Surprisingly, he said he was too busy to watch with school going on. “But I’m looking forward to getting with some friends and binge-watching it all,” he said.
We learned in September 2014 that wright would be sitting out all of season five. Showrunner David Benioff explained that they had already caught up with all of Bran’s storyline through George R.R. Martin’s A Dance With Dragons. Bran is training with the Three-Eyed Raven, but that wouldn’t be interesting to show.
In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Benioff compared showing that to shoring Luke Skywalker training to be a Jedi.
“Like, it would be far less interesting, after The Empire Strikes Back to have an hour-long movie in between Empire and Return of the Jedi where Luke is training,” he said. “It’s so much cooler to cut from end of Empire to beginning of Return, where he’s become the Jedi.”
