Prosecutors in the Aaron Hernandez murder trial spent nearly half a million dollars working the case.

The Associated Press noted that on Friday, spokesman Gregg Miliote outlined the expenses incurred by the Bristol County district attorney's office. He said that the office spent $360,462.30 on overtime for state police and $101,834.64 for other expenses such as experts and travel, totaling just over $462,000. That figure does not include what was spent for salaried employees.

"It would be impossible to quantify man hours of prosecutors and staff," Miliote wrote in an email.

Hernandez, a former NFL tight end for the New England Patriots, was found guilty in April of first-degree murder in the shooting death of semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd.

Under Massachusetts guidelines, the 25-year-old was given a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

At one time Hernandez had a $40 million contract with the Patriots. The number that he spent on his defense team has not been made public.
