Olympic and World Cup Champion Abby Wambach said she is, “planning on playing” for the United States next summer at the Rio Olympics.

Wambach told a FOX affiliate in her native Rochester, “What’s next for me, my life plan, I haven’t decided what I’m going to do. I’m planning on playing next summer in Rio, but I gotta let my body recover, because that’s the things about playing on artificial surface.”

The 35-year-old said after winning the World Cup in Canada that she would take the following weeks and months to make a decision regarding her future on the field. According to Yahoo, Wambach said it would be difficult for her to turn down the opportunity to represent her country at the Olympics. “I’m getting older, not younger,” said Wambach. “But the reality is, if I’m asked to play for my country it might be difficult to say no. But I haven’t made any definitive decisions yet.”

Although Wambach is international soccer’s all-time leading scorer with 183 goals, it would be difficult for her to make the team in Rio since the Olympic roster size is 18 compared to the 23 player roster for the World Cup.

Other younger and experienced U.S. forwards that could challenge Wambach for her spot include Alex Morgan, Sydney Leroux, Christen Press and Amy Rodriguez.
