Arizona Cardinals defensive back Tyrann Mathieu conducted an experiment showing the devastating effects of being in hot car.
Shutdown Corner noted that Mathieu took the PETA challenge to highlight what can happen when pets are left in hot vehicles.
The athlete agreed to sit in an SUV for 15 minutes with no air conditioner and the windows rolled up. At eight minutes and a sweltering 120 degrees inside the car, Mathieu couldn’t bear it anymore. He opened the doors and exited the vehicle.
The Cardinals’ player was covered in sweat, breathing heavily and placed his hands on his knees in exhaustion after enduring the heat.
If a free safety couldn’t withstand the heat just image how an animal would be.
Mathieu played his college ball at Louisiana State University, where he earned the nickname “Honey Badger.” He was dismissed from the football program in 2012, entered the 2013 NFL Draft and was selected by Arizona in the third round.
