The new trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that Warner Bros. showed off at the San Diego Comic Con on Saturday reveals much more about the film than that first teaser did. We know that there’s a story in there somewhere, but it still seems like Zack Snyder’s movie is expected to do much more than your usual movie.

Dawn of Justice will take place after the events of Man of Steel, but it is hardly a traditional sequel. Warner Bros. and DC Comics are putting all their eggs in one basket - literally. They need this movie to introduce audiences to the first DC Cinematic Universe, so not only is Batman going to fight Superman, but Wonder Woman is swinging in too. Aquaman is definitely going to pop in, too, while Cyborg, The Flash and others are likely going to make appearances.

This is basically what would happen if Marvel started off its own universe with The Avengers instead of testing characters out in solo movies first. But this is all too much to ask a single movie to do. Dawn of Justice will have to be well over two hours to cram all this in.

Sure, there’s still a chance that Dawn of Justice will be more than a fan’s dream and could actually be a decent movie. But the trailer still doesn’t prove that this is going to be a cohesive movie. Snyder and writer Chris Terrio will get to prove me wrong on March 25.

So, let’s break down what we actually do learn in this trailer.

[new page = Superman and Politics]

10 . Superman at Congress

Holly Hunter’s role had been a mystery for awhile, although her voice was heard in the teaser. Now we know that the Oscar winner is playing a U.S. Senator who calls Superman (Henry Cavill) to Congress. Later, we see Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) trying to get her on his side. It looks like Superman is going to be a hot-button political issue. Maybe Donald Trump will have to weigh in.

[new page = Bruce Wayne]

9. Bruce Wayne was in Metropolis during Man of Steel

Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) was in Metropolis during the events of Man of Steel and saw the destruction Supes and General Zod (Michael Shannon). It turns out that during the fight, a Wayne office building is destroyed and that provides Batman some motivation to stop Supes. So for anyone complaining that nothing was being done about those millions of people killed during the end of Man of Steel (myself included), it looks like Dawn of Justice will touch on that aspect.

[new page = Wayne Manor]

8. Wayne Manor is destroyed

Somehow, Wayne Manor is destroyed... or is that Wayne Manor? It also looks like Alfred (Jeremy Irons) is walking towards it. In the next shot, there’s the Batcave underwater. So it does look like Dawn of Justice happens years after Bruce gave up being Batman and now returns to the cape and cowl in response to Supes’ appearance.

[new page = The Joker?]

7. The Joker trolling Batman?

Is the Joker (played by Jared Leto in Suicide Squad) trolling Bruce after Wayne Tower is destroyed? Is that something that ticks Bruce off so much that he becomes Batman again? Kind of looks like it here.

There’s a scene later with Bats pulling the tarp off the Bat Signal. This proves that Batman has been out of commission for awhile and is coming back to stop Supes.

[new page = Clark Kent]

6. Clark Kent goes on crusade against Batman

For some reason, Clark Kent has decided to fight Batman first in the newspaper. Perry White (Laurence Fishburne) thinks that’s a bit crazy and Clark will probably figure that out soon enough. This is the start of the second part of the trailer, as we see that Supes/Clark doesn’t like Batman so much.

5. Not everyone hates Superman

It turns out that not everyone hates Superman. Lois Lane (Amy Adams) reminds him that some people see him as a symbol of hope and that could give him some motivation to prove that Batman is his opposite. Ma Kent (Diane Lane - who, at age 50, is stuck playing Superman’s mom while Robert Downey Jr. gets to play Iron Man) also provides Supes with some positive vibes.

[new page = Lex Luthor]

4. Lex Luthor does start out with hair

Eisenberg’s Lex does start out with hair, just like Gene Hackman in Superman: The Movie. But he’s a much younger Lex and it looks like he’s playing a really twisted version of a billionaire who doesn’t like Supes for some reason. He also gets politics on his side.

[new page = General Zod]

3. General Zod’s body

My hypothesis on how Kryptonite is created: they use the body of Zod. Someone has kept Zod’s body and I’m betting it’s Lex, who helps Batman get a hold of Kryptonite. Just a guess. There has to be a reason why Alfred will have to convince Batman that Lex is the enemy, not Superman.

[new page = Wonder Woman]

2. Wonder Woman in action

There’s a couple of shots of Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) in action. Which site is she fighting on? Has she been recruited to fight Superman or is she helping him? Or is her appearance just a tease for her solo movie?

[new page = The big battle]

The Money Shot

The rest of the trailer is just shots from Batman and Superman’s big fight, with a few shots of whatever Lex is doing spliced in. There’s a fantastic shot of Superman pulling the Batmobile’s roof off. Never thought we would ever see that on the big screen.
