It was surprising to see the events playing out between Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift on Tuesday night on Twitter, with Minaj upset she was snubbed in two categories in MTV VMA nominations and Swift taking offense to one of her tweets.
As we previously reported, Minaj was trying to point out that as an African American woman, she doesn’t get as recognized for her accomplishments as a white woman would. As an example, she talked about being snubbed for video of the year for “Anaconda” and wrote of Swift’s star-studded “Bad Blood” video, “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.”
Many were entertained by the back and forth that ensued afterwards, like former Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul, Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars.
Paul tweeted, “Dear @taylorswift13 and @NICKIMINAJ, I love you both. How about we all get together and talk this thru? Coffee? Pancakes?? My treat. Ap.”
Mars then started a fake fight with Ed Sheeran, joking “Yo I want in on this twitter Beef!! VMAs is the new WWF!! @edsheeran F--k You!”
When Sheeran told him he would “come up short” if they fought, Mars replied “That Cut deep… U always know how to sheer me to the core. I can't believe we're Sheeran this in public. How dare u!”
