The chances of Hannibal getting a fourth season are looking worse and worse, but it seems like the show could still live on in some form after all.
Creator Bryan Fuller said at Comic-Con this weekend that they're still exploring all possible options for the series, and that includes doing a feature film rather than another season. He also said that actors Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen are committed to the future to the show and that he hopes to bring the story back in some way after a break.
Fuller clarified to Entertainment Weekly that the Season 3 finale wraps things up in a nice way, but it could also serve as a launching pad for a new version of the story.
It certainly looks like Season 3 will be progressing the storyline significantly, delving deep into the Red Dragon storyline. For more about where the rest of this season is headed, check out this preview video released via the official Hannibal YouTube channel.
After the show was cancelled on NBC due to poor ratings, Hannibal fans assumed a streaming service would pick up the series, but things got pretty grim when both Amazon and Netflix passed on Season 4, as we previously reported. There's still the chance that Hulu could possibly be interested in a fourth season, but otherwise it sounds like a straight to DVD (or Amazon) movie is another strong possibility.
