Fans of Guardians of the Galaxy will be seeing plenty more of Star Lord, Groot and the rest of the gang very soon thanks to Disney XD, and we now have our first official look at the new series.

Marvel has just released the first promo for the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series, which will debut this fall. It's pretty brief, but it still gives fans a good idea of what to expect from the show, and it definitely seems to be in line with the tone of the feature film.

No, the show doesn't star Chris Pratt or any of the cast from the movie, and it doesn't take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There was actually a bit of confusion about that last year when Marvel's vice president of animation said that the series will pick up where the movie left off. But then film director James Gunn clarified that this show is totally separate from his movie, as we previously reported.

The Disney series will instead star Will Friedle as Star-Lord, Trevor Devall as Rocket Raccoon, Kevin Michael Richardson as Groot, David Sobolov as Drax and Vanessa Marshall as Gamora. And though it won't be connected to the movie, it will pick up with the Guardians team having already been formed.

Guardians of the Galaxy will air on Disney XD on September 26. This is the latest in a series of Marvel shows to air on Disney's network including Avengers Assemble.
