Dan Aykroyd tried for years to get another Ghostbusters movies off-the-ground, and though Paul Feig's upcoming 2016 reboot isn't exactly what he initially planned, it would seem he'll get his wish of returning to haunted world he helped create.
On Tuesday, the actor/writer from the original two 1984 and 1989 movies revealed on a soon-to-be deleted Facebook post his set visit and that they were shooting his scene with Kristen Wiig. Although details were slim from there as far as what this said scene would entail, Indie Revolver got the word on what took place. If you don't want to know what happens, be warned.
Reportedly, Aykroyd plays a taxi cab driver in the upcoming Sony feature, one Wiig's character tries to catch. Sometime in the process, the actor throws out the iconic line: "I ain't afraid of no ghost." Wiig then also calls the driver out for using a double negative, stating he means he is afraid of ghosts based on his poor phrasing.
At this time, Aykroyd is the only original Ghostbuster reported to appear in the new movie. The late Harold Ramis, of course, can't make an appearance, and Bill Murray's reluctance to make a third movie may very well mean he isn't popping up in this new feature. His approval of this female-led feature, however, might suggest his willingness to show up, but not likely. But there's a solid chance Ernie Hudson will cameo too.
It's possible this new movie is going to start a new franchise, but for the moment the company is kinda taking it slow and seeing how well they do with this refresher. Word back in March promoted the idea of having a new, male-led Ghostbusters film in addition to the one Feig's created, but proposed lead/producer Channing Tatum said last month he doesn't think it'll happen. Meanwhile, Aykroyd still wants Ghostbusters 3 to happen, but that's not likely to come into fruition.
Let's also not forget, this isn't the first time Aykroyd's made a Ghostbusters-like cameo:
