The second season of Daredevil will include more than a few new characters familiar to fans. While we already know about The Punisher, today we learned who will play Elektra.

Marvel and Netflix announced today that Elodie Yung, who starred in G.I. Joe: Retaliation and District 13: Ultimatum, will play Elektra. She’s a mysterious woman from Matt Murdock’s past who pops up to make things really difficult for him.

“After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity,” Jeph Loeb, the show’s executive producer and Marvel TV chief, said in a statement. “Paired with Charlie [Cox] as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.”

The second season of Daredevil will again feature Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, along with Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and Rosario Dawson. Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead) will star as Frank Castle/The Punisher. Filming is already underway and the new episodes will be available on Netflix next year.

Elektra was played by Jennifer Garner in the 2003 Ben Affleck Daredevil movie. While that Daredevil didn’t spawn a sequel, Garner did get to play the role again in a 2005 solo movie, which was poorly received.
