Married…with Children star David Faustino, who played Bud on the sitcom, has confirmed a long-rumored spin-off is still in the works.
Faustino attended the Vacation premiere in support of his co-star Christina Applegate, who played Kelly on the show, and opened up to E! News about the status of the show.
"Sony has it. They're excited about it," he said. "They're working out some legal issues that we hope they work out."
The show, which also starred Modern Family’s Ed O’Neill and Katey Sagal, concluded in 1997 after 11 seasons.
He also confirmed everyone on the show is on board “to do little bits in it,” with Applegate herself saying "all of us have said we would all be there for [Faustino].”
She joked of Kelly in present day, "Kelly Bundy probably has like 10 kids.”
They first talked about the possibility of a spin-off focusing on Bud Bundy at Sagal’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony last year.
“We're going to do something with Dave maybe. I don't know if it will be in character,” Applegate said at the time. "But I don't really know. I don't know what that's going to be. I don't know if I'm allowed to speak on that at all. So I should probably stop talking about it right now!”
