Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson was arrested for DUI early Tuesday morning in Los Angeles.

The California Highway Patrol pulled Lawson over for speeding on the freeway. Lawson showed signs of intoxication according to the officer, so he was given a field sobriety test. He was arrested around 2:30 am, identified himself as an NBA player, and was carrying $6,000 in cash on him, according to TMZ, which first reported the arrest. He was released on $5,000 bail.

"He displayed several signs of symptoms of alcohol intoxication," Officer Kevin Tao told the Denver Post. “He verbally identified himself as a professional basketball player for the Denver Nuggets.”

This isn’t the first time that Lawson has been arrest for driving under the influence. He was arrested and charged with DUI in January. Lawson is due in court for the first arrest on Friday.

"Mr. Lawson posted a $1,500 bond in the Denver case earlier this year and is currently on pre-trial supervision," Lynn Kimbrough, a spokesperson for the Denver District Attorney’s office told the Post. "The conditions of his bond include no alcohol consumption and monitored sobriety."

Lawson was drafted by the Nuggets in 2009. He has spent all six seasons with the team. He averaged 15.2 points and 9.6 assists, which is a career-high, last season, according to ESPN. Lawson was third in the NBA in assists last year.

Lawson is scheduled to appear in court for this latest arrest on August 4.
