A feathery little owl got some company when two deputies stopped by to have a little chat in Boulder County, Colorado.

E! News reported that a deputy with the Boulder County Sheriff’s department came across the baby Northern Saw Whet owl in the middle of the road. She bent down to say hi to the little owl, who proceeded to talk back, or at least make clicking sounds.

Our deputies were driving when they were stopped in their tracks by this young Northern Saw Whet Owl. After some curious head twisting (on both sides) it flew safely away. #DeputiesLoveBabyOwls

The adorable video was put on Youtube courtesy of Boulder County and you can hear the deputy saying “Hi” to the owl as she moves closer to see him. The little owl makes a couple of noises back and even moves his head up and down while looking at the deputy.

According to the YouTube description, the meeting happened on July 23 as the deputies were driving near a campground in Colorado. As of today, it has had over 2,000,000 views.

Many people have commented on the photos and video on Facebook, with one user making a joke as though the deputy asked the owl why he was stopped, with the owl responding “I don’t give a hoot.”
