A live exorcism will air for the first time in television history this October with a Destination America special called Exorcism: Live!.
The special will air in conjunction with the 66th anniversary of the exorcism performed on Roland Doe in St. Louis back in 1949, which inspired the 1971 novel by Peter Blatty and later the film The Exorcist.
In a release, Destination America said, "No one has ever attempted to rid the lurking spirits and demons that inhabit this home, until now," E! Online reports.
The network’s cast of Ghost Asylum as well as the Tennessee Wraith Chasers and medium Chip Coffey will be shown exploring the home during the day and night, using the most up-to-date technology there is.
Marc Etkind, the network’s general manager, also explained, "As we step into one of the most haunted and well-known spirit destinations in America, Exorcism: Live! will show exactly what is inside this infamous, highly dangerous and possessed home.”
Los Angeles Times reports Destination America, which airs shows like Mountain Monsters and Paranormal Survivor made this announcement at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour on Thursday. It will on Oct. 30.
