The AMC Walking Dead panel at San Diego Comic Con brought about a release date for season six and a full trailer, complete with cliff hanging moments and massive amounts of gore but the focus shifted to the upcoming spin-off series Fear The Walking Dead.

Rolling Stone reported that Fear will premiere on August 23rd. This will be a separate storyline with new characters apart from The Walking Dead and will show audiences how the zombie apocalypse began.

The trailer shows footage of the world before the apocalypse and fans get a glimpse at a few main characters. It ends with the haunting and ominous dialogue, "When civilization ends, it ends fast."

During the panel, Dave Erickson, who is a co-creator of Dead, explained how this spin-off fits into the main franchise's timeline. "Rick was out for four to five weeks, and this is two, three, four weeks of that time. Even when we eventually get to the end of season, we’re still not necessarily caught up," said Erickson.

Fear stars Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens and Ruben Blade. Season one will feature six episodes. The show has already been renewed for a second season, Den of Geek reported.
