This doesn’t make much of any sense, but Bones is going to crossover with Sleepy Hollow. The two shows will air on the same night in the new season, so Fox must have decided that the writers can figure out how this will work.
According to TVLine, the original plan was to have the crossover this fall, but the scheduling wasn’t working out. So instead, the crossover will happen later in the season.
It’s not clear how this will work. Bones doesn’t have any fantasy elements, even if the crimes Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Special Agent Booth (David Boreanaz) are often a little crazy. The executive producers for the two shows are working on a creative idea to bring them together with Sleepy Hollow’s Ichabod (Tom Mison) and Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie). It certainly won’t be as easy as it is to write NCIS and CSI franchise crossovers.
This also might seem like a stunt to lift Bones’ ratings. The long-running show will be entering its 11th season in the fall, while Sleepy Hollow will only be starting its second. Nikki Reed just joined the cast of the younger show on Wednesday and will play Betsy Ross.
Bones and Sleepy Hollow will premiere on Thursday, Oct. 1.
