The Game of Thrones panel at San Diego Comic-Con didn’t reveal much, leaving fans still wondering if Jon Snow is really dead. However, HBO did show off a really cool audition tape reel, showing off a simpler time before the cast joined the world of Westeros.

Emilia Clarke was not there to get grilled on her ‘50/50 chance’ statement about Jon Snow’s fate, so everyone else was left to dance around the question. One theory that could explain how Kit Harington’s character lives again has Melisandre bringing him back to life. One audience member did ask Carice Van Houten if that’s true.

“I'm as in the dark as you are all,” Van Houten, who plays Melisandre, said, notes The Hollywood Reporter. “But who knows man, I can't tell you anything."

Director David Nutter told Entertainment Weekly before the panel that President Barack Obama actually asked him about killing Jon Snow.

“I said, ‘Jon Snow is deader than dead,’” Nutter told EW. “I thought I was going to be sent to Guantanamo or something, but fortunately I’m here — but he’s dead.”

Harington also said his character is really dead, but since we are talking about a fictional universe, no one will believe that until we see the body burning. We won’t really know until next year, when the new season starts.

As for the infamous rape of Sansa scene, Sophie Turner said she wasn’t sure why the showrunners focused on Then (Alfie Allen) in that scene instead of her.

“You'll have to ask the writers as to why they focused on Theon, because I was giving a great performance. And they just pan in on him,” Turner said. She suggested that Sansa could have fought back, but she decided not to.
