Earlier this evening a man opened fire inside a movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana during a showing of Trainwreck, three people are dead and many others are injured.

The shooting took place in Lafayete at the Grand Theatre 16, early reports indicate that around 100 people were in the theatre when the gunshots started.

Col. Michael Edmonson of the Louisiana State Police provided details about the crime scene and confirmed that the shooter was a 58-year-old white male, who committed suicide on scene, CNN reported.

"There's nothing to believe that there was any kind of motive," explained Col. Michael Edmonson of the Louisiana State Police. "The shooter was acting alone and is deceased."

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is in route to Lafayette and took to Twitter to express his condolences.

Amy Schumer, the star of Trainwreck, has also commented about the tragedy on Twitter.

This shooting has taken place days after a jury reached a verdict in the trail of James Holmes, the man who shot and killed 12 people at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado movie theater during a showing of The Dark Knight Rises back in July 2012.
