Sherlock fans rejoice! A trailer for the upcoming Sherlock holiday special has been released. During the show’s panel at Comic-Con a teaser for the new special was played after an introduction video from some of the series’ stars. Sherlock himself, Benedict Cumberbatch, was in the video acknowledging his absence. Cumberbatch is currently starring in a production of Hamlet and was unable to make it to the convention.
According to Time.com the upcoming special, which is set to hit select U.S. theaters this December, is the first episode to air since January 2014. The special will be the first in the series to be set in the Victorian era.
It has been an exciting few days for fans of the BBC show. Yesterday a photo for the special was released on Facebook.
The fourth season of Sherlock is set to be released in 2016. According to an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Steven Moffat, the show’s creator said that after they watch the fourth season fans will be “desperate for series 5.”
