E!’s I Am Cait has finally arrived and the numbers are in.
On Sunday, the docuseries surrounding Bruce Jenner’s transformation into Caitlyn Jenner premiered after several months of waiting. Back in April, Diane Sawyer sat down with, then Bruce, to talk about his upcoming transformation into a woman.
Last month, Caitlyn made her debut on the cover of Vanity Fair, revealing herself, and her name, for the first time.
E!, who has been the home of the Kardashians/Jenners for nearly a decade, created an eight-part docuseries following Jenner as she transitions into her new life.
The first episode of I Am Cait premiered with about 2.73 million viewers, according to The Hollywood Reporter, just slightly higher than a Keeping Up With the Kardashians episode.
Diane Sawyer’s 20/20 segment with Jenner brought in 17 million viewers, and the special two-night episodes of Keeping Up’s “About Bruce” brought in 4.2 million viewers.
The episode marked some of Jenner’s family meeting “her” for the first time, including mother Esther, sisters Pam and Lisa, youngest daughter Kylie, stepdaughter Kim and her husband Kanye West.
I Am Cait is on Sundays on E!.
