This Sunday July 5, 2015 marks 25 years since Blossom first aired on NBC.
Mayim Bialik, who played the title character, spoke to ABC News about her experiences growing up on the set.
"It was a safe environment to grow up in," the star said. "We were each other's social group. We were each other's junior high and high school. It was very positive experience and I’m grateful for a clean set where we didn’t see drugs and alcohol and grew up as normally as we could."
The show, which had five seasons, tackled real-life issues, like safe-sex and other mature topics, and because of that, and the fact that it was one of the only shows centered around a girl, it became a cultural phenomenon. It was ahead of its time for television for that reason, Bialik noted.
Just last year, the cast got together to celebrate the show coming to The Hub television network for a marathon.
