Jake Gyllenhaal is remembering his Brokeback Mountain co-star and friend, Heath Ledger, seven years after his tragic death.
Gyllenhaal bonded with Ledger off-screen and had a genuine friendship with him, so it’s not surprising to hear the Southpaw actor say he misses the actor.
“I think losing Heath and being a part of a family that was something like the movie, that movie we all made together, makes you …appreciate that and hopefully moves you away from the things that really don’t matter to the things that do,” he said in an interview with NPR.
He went on to say, “I miss him as a human being and I miss working with him and what an unfortunate thing it is that we won’t be able to see the beauty of his expression.”
Ledger died in 2008 of an accidental overdose on six different prescription drugs after becoming engrossed in shooting The Dark Knight and the Bob Dylan biopic I’m Not There.
Ledger left behind a daughter with ex, Michelle Williams; Matilda, now 9.
