Jessica Alba has officially added feminine care products to her company, The Honest Company.

According to a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, Alba has been working on devlopement and testing the pads and tampons for the past two years. The products, which were released on July 29, are made with 100-percent GOTS-certified organic cotton.

"It really is about giving people healthier and safer options, to live the best life they can," the Sin City star explained. "I wanted to give people a real, viable alternative, but something that's also good for the planet and good for her."

During the interview, Alba used the statistics to help explain how often a female gets her period. This realization helped her realize getting into the feminine care business was "a great opportunity."

The Fantastic Four star that she uses her own products, as a piece of mind.

"I have an option where I can feel good, and I'm not exposed to potentially toxic and harmful chemicals that are in conventional tampons and pads," she explained. She continued to note that The Honest Company's pads and tampons have no synthetic fragrances, no deodorants, artificial dyes, phthalates, pesticide residues, chlorine or chlorine dioxide processing, no GMOs, no glycerol tricaprylates.

Alba made not just the product itself better, but the packaging itself. She designed The Honest Company's feminine care products packaging to look like "artisanal chocolate" or "an expensive candle."

The Honest Company identifies as a feminist company due to it's importance of equality, according to Alba.

The mother of Honor and Haven even noted that the company's building includes a nursing room to allow employees a clean place to pump or nurse.

The Honest Company also sells products such as vitamins, diapers, and baby food. The online site ships to both the U.S. and Canada.
