Joe Jackson has undergone surgery in Sao Paulo, Brazil after suffering symptoms of a stroke and subsequently three heart attacks on Sunday, which was his 87th birthday.
As we previously reported, doctors were running tests on the Jackson family patriarch and deciding whether or not to send him back to the U.S. to get further treatment there. His family reportedly wants him back in Las Vegas, where he lives with his wife Katherine Jackson, but for right now it’s too risky to move him.
TMZ reports as of Monday, he suffered the heart attacks while still in the hospital. His heart stopped beating for ten seconds, however doctors were able to revive him. They then put a pacemaker in and they hope this will help his condition.
He released a statement on his website, website, saying, “To my family, friends, acquaintances and fans all over the world. I want to thank you all for your prayers, unwavering support and kind well wishes during these trying times. Through God’s intervention the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and caretakers at the Albert Einstein Sao Paulo hospital have taken great care of me. God willing, I should be able to make a quick recovery and travel back home soon. Thank you all once again for your prayers and support. ”
Jackson also suffered a stroke back in 2012.
