Kim Kardashian had a speaking engagement in San Francisco on Tuesday at the prestigious Commonwealth Club, where she discussed the objectification of women in the media.
While some scoffed at the subject of her lecture, considering her rise to fame includes a sex tape, Kardashian said she holds the power against the media by controlling her overtly sexy image.
"Sometimes the media exploit me but I don't care, as long as I'm happy and I like the photographer then I don't care,” she said, adding of the paparazzi, “Without them, people wouldn't have taken much notice of me so I give credit where it's due."
"I don't think it's a bad thing," she said about being objectified over the amount of revealing selfies she posts on social media, NY Times reports. "I think there's power in that and I think I have the control to put out what I want so even if I'm objectifying myself, I feel good about it."
She spoke for an hour, mostly to an audience of young females.
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star also revealed her husband Kanye West was the one who came up with the title for her selfie book, Selfish.
Kardashian, who’s expecting her second child with West, gushed about him to the crowd, saying “I love the way he creates, thinks, stands up for what he believes in whole-heartedly. He is such a good person. I have gotten a lot of my confidence from him, I used to care so much about what people thought of me. He has taught me to not care, he is such an honest person."
