Screen and stage actress Kristin Chenoweth was honored in a ceremony Friday when she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Chenoweth was presented with her star on her 47th birthday and hours before she attended the premiere of her new Disney movie The Descendants, according to contactmusic.com.
The actress was presented the honor by her friend and mentor, Carol Burnett, who introduced the star when she said, “I can’t believe that all this talent can be in this teeny little package. Let me say this...if I had my show today...I would want Kristin to be on every single week with us. Well I’m going to say I’m her number one fan.”
Chenoweth began her career on stage, and in 1999 she won a Tony Award for her role as Sally in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and had success on television making appearances in Glee and The West Wing.
According to Variety>/a>, Chenoweth made sure the crowd knew the sacrifices she had made in order to achieve her success.
“There’s a misconception about me that my life is perfect, but I have to work at it because I am what I came with,” said Chenoweth. “I’m not a robot. I’m from Broken Arrow, Okla. I’ve made sacrifices, the cost of the things we give up to be an artist, and also the gift of it, every holiday, weddings, funerals, I’ve been on stage. But I don’t know how to do anything else, and I wouldn’t want to do anything else if I could.”
