It pays to be the president’s daughter, just ask 17-year-old Malia Obama. The oldest daughter of President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama has landed an internship on the set of HBO’s Girls this summer.
Malia is rumored to want to pursue a career in television or film when she graduates college, so she’s getting a head start with this internship. However, it’s not her first high-profile gig.
Last summer, Malia worked as a production assistant on Halle Berry’s CBS show Extant. She’s also currently also interning at a fashion house.
She’s set to graduate high school next year, as she attends Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C.
“She’s a fan, and she mentioned that to Lena [Dunham] when she came to the White House,” a source told Us Weekly of her Girls internship. “I’m not sure how long she’ll be interning for. It’s a bit of a trial thing for her. They’ve known each other and discussed for a while. Lena and her get along great.”
She's already been seen on the set in Brooklyn, fetching the crew coffee.
