Melissa McCarthy and her husband, Ben Faclone, will be behind a new TV comedy series. The couple has teamed up with TVLand for the new comedy series.
According to Deadline Hollywood McCarthy and Falcone have a deal with TV Land for a single camera comedy script. The series is inspired by the lives of Hugh Davidson, Larry Dorf, and Rachel Ramras. The three were stuck writing for children’s television series’ while their friends from the improv comedy troupe, The Groundlings, went on to win Oscars and star in blockbuster comedies. Both McCarthy and Falcone are Groundlings alumni. McCarthy and Falcone told Deadline “We are so excited to be working with Hugh, Rachel, and Larry—such funny people, who are great friends.” The working title of the series is Friends with Melissa, and McCarthy is set to guest star in the show’s pilot episode.
This summer McCarthy could be seen in Paul Feig’s film Spy. She will next be seen in Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot.
