The new production of Eugene O’Neill’s epic masterpiece Long Day’s Journey Into Night has found the last member of the troubled Tyrone family. Michael Shannon will join Gabriel Byrne and Jessica Lange in the new production, co-produced by Ryan Murphy.

Shannon will star as James Jr., the eldest son in the family, notes The New York Times. Lange joined the production in May to play his drug-addicted mother, Mary. Byrne will star as the drunk family patriarch James. John Gallagher Jr. will play the younger son, Edmund.

The new production of O’Neill’s Pulitzer Prize winning play will be staged by the Roundabout Theatre company with Murphy, who currently has the stage rights. Performances will start at the American Airlines Theater on March 31, with an official opening on April 19.

Shannon was nominated for an Oscar for Revolutionary Road and starred as General Zod in Man of Steel. He was also on Boardwalk Empire and will next be seen in 99 Homes with Andrew Garfield in September. In October, he will be seen in Freeheld.
