Rosie Perez officially announced her departure from The View during today’s episode, which was also reportedly supposed to include an introduction of her replacement: Michelle Collins. However, the show didn’t get a chance to.

Last week, it was first reported by Variety that Perez or Nicolle Wallace would leave, but it turns out that Perez is getting the boot first. She gave an emotional farewell during today’s episode.

TheWrap is reporting that Collins, who appeared as a guest on today’s show, will be named Perez’s replacement. Last week’s Variety report suggested that the comedian was on the shortlist to join the show anyway as she is a regular guest co-host.

It appeared that Perez was hinting that Collins was supposed to be introduced as a permanent host, since she said “Welcome” as she hugged her. Perez did the same with Raven-Symone, who was named a permanent host in June.

ABC didn’t comment on Collins joining the show, but we could hear about her future as soon as tomorrow. The show’s next season will be its 19th and the show has been in a constant state of flux since Barbara Walters retired.
