Even though most Bachelorette viewers say they knew Kaitlyn Bristowe was going to choose her fiancé Shawn Booth since the beginning, Nick Viall is still adamant that he was blindsided by her choice.

During an interview with former Bachelorette star Ali Fedotowsky, Viall accused Bristowe of breaking many rules on the show. However, he refrained from saying anything negative about her.

Fedotowsky posted the interview on her blog on Wednesday, during which Viall said Bristowe told him “I love you” many times off-camera.

"We told each other a bunch of times," he said, calling himself "very lucky” that she “requested a lot of extra time. We really enjoyed our private time together."

It’s a rule on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette that no “I love you’s” can be exchanged at all, which Fedotowsky validated.

That’s why he said he was "very surprised" she said it, because "she's not allowed to say that, even technically in private.”

"When I was the Bachelorette, the producers were always like, 'Don't tell someone you love them! Don't tell them!'" Fedotowsky said. "It's a rule. You're not supposed to say it, because you can change your mind. They say, 'Don't say it until the end just in case.'"

Nonetheless, Bristowe and Booth have been making their interview rounds after the finale and seem to be very in love.
