Danielle Brooks proves that she is ambitious and confident both on and off the Orange is the New Black set.
Brooks, known for her role as Taystee on the Netflix original series, recently posted an image to her Instagram account of her at the gym. According to Cosmopolitan, after idolizing the females at the gym who workout without a t-shirt on and would wear only a sports bra, Brooks decided to take it upon herself to become one of these girls.
"I've always wanted to do this, but have felt shameful and have told myself 'until my body is perfect, I'm forbidden,'" Brooks wrote about the selfie. "Today my inner being told me to turn up the notch on my self-love. I should not be ashamed of my body. I'm not a walking imperfection! I'm a Goddess." She finished the image off with hashtags such as "#yesmythighstouch" and "#lovethyself." In the picture, she is seen wearing a pink sports bra, black cropped yoga pants, and a baseball cap.
Fans seemed to agree with Brooks' body-positive post, as she garnered 63,800 likes on the post.
One can only hope that Brooke's confidence continues as she makes her Broadway debut in November. Brooks will star as as Sofia in The Color Purple.
