Since it was announced that Kanye West will perform during the closing ceremony of Canada’s Pan Am Games in Toronto on July 26, a petition was started to urge organizers to replace him.
The announcement was made this week, which angered Canadians because he’s not from their country. The head of the organizing committee, Saad Rafi, called West, and fellow headliner Pitbull, “international artists.”
“If this just doesn’t get you excited and you don’t think there’s going to be a party in Toronto on the 26 of July, we have nothing left for you,” Rafi told The Star.
It seems over 17,000 (as of Thursday afternoon) people disagree with Rafi, because a Change.org petition started by Allen Simans proves otherwise.
“Please reconsider your decision,” Simans pleaded, giving examples of fellow “Torontonians” to replace him like “Drake, Walk Off The Earth, Feist, Metric, Shania Twain, deadmau5, Crystal Castles, Zeds Dead, The Weeknd, Peaches, K'naan and many many more!”
