Actress Rebel Wilson is speaking out against America’s gun control laws after a recent shooting in Lafayette, Louisiana.

"I don't like getting political but America you really have to follow Australia's example re gun laws," she tweeted on Friday.

She also added that there has not been a mass shooting in Australia since they overruled gun laws, and that it seems to happen every week, here in America.

“I just want people to be safe, especially people that are doing one of my favorite things in the WORLD - going out to the movies 2 have fun,” she wrote.

USA Today reports that after the 1996 Port Arthur massacre in Australia, the country overhauled its gun rules. The gunman open fired at a former prison colony-turned attraction and killed 35 people.

On Thursday, three people were killed, including the gunman, in a movie theatre during a screening of Trainwreck. At least nine people were injured.

Back in 2012, James Holmes shot and killed 12 people in a movie theatre in Aurora, Colorado during a screening of The Dark Knight Rises. Just last week, a jury found Holmes guilty of murder in the first degree.
