Writer, singer, producer, and actress Ruby Rose made an appearance on the Today show this morning.

Rose wrote and produced a video called Break Free. The short film about gender roles, transgender, and identity issues went viral shortly after its release in 2014 on Rose's official YouTube page.

The film may have helped with Rose's casting on Orange Is The New Black. "I expected it to be this small thing for my Facebook fans, but it went crazy," Rose said on the show. "I got a call shortly after that."

She now uses her newfound fame to talk about gender fluidity and help with the movement as well.

Rose plays the role of Stella on season 3 of the Netflix hit series. "This cast is so ridiculously nice, like it's spooky," she praised her friends on OITNB. "You get on set, and everyone wants to give you a hug and a kiss and exchange numbers and go to karaoke and take you for dinner."

She compared her high school experience to the prison in OITNB. "I had a terrible time in high school, and this was what I dreamed of high school being like," Rose stated. "This was like my prison high school. It's fantastic!"
